01
Overview
A growing B2B product needed its reporting rebuilt as a proper analytics platform that customers could self-serve, with plans and permissions for larger accounts.
02
The challenge
Reports were generated manually and emailed as spreadsheets. As accounts grew, the team spent more time producing reports than improving the product.
03
Objectives
- Give customers self-serve, real-time reporting
- Support teams and roles within each account
- Introduce paid tiers for advanced analytics
- Create a design system the team could extend
04
Strategy
We mapped the questions customers actually asked of their data, then designed dashboards around those questions instead of around the raw tables.
05
UX/UI process
Stakeholder interviews and customer calls fed a set of core jobs-to-be-done. Wireframes were tested with existing customers before any visual design began.
06
Development
A multi-tenant architecture with row-level permissions, background aggregation jobs and subscription billing, deployed with monitoring from day one.
07
Final solution
A self-serve analytics platform with configurable dashboards, scheduled exports, team roles and tiered plans - built on a documented component library.
